Warsaw Chopin International Airport (WAW)

Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) is the main international airport for Poland. Chopin Airport is served by five public bus routes all with stops at Warsaw’s key transport nodes and the biggest hotels.

For safety reasons we strongly advise using ONLY licensed taxi services at Chopin Airport. Avoid all private drivers. In the arrival hall you can easily find a stand of officially licensed taxi companies charging standard rates. Taxi tariffs should be clearly displayed in the car window.

The airport authorities  recommend two taxi companies:

The taxi fare from the airport to the city center is approximately 40-50 PLN (10-12€ / US$12-15). Always ask for a taxi receipt

Bus 175

Bus 175 runs from the Airport to the Central Railway Station and then to Old Town. Hours of operation: daily 04:27 – 22:58. Route: Chopin Airport – City Centre via main streets:  ŻWIRKI I WIGURY – AL.JEROZOLIMSKIE (Central Railway Station, approximately 25 min.) – KRAKOWSKIE PRZEDMIEŚCIE – PL.PIŁSUDSKIEGO (close to Old Town, approximately 35 min.)

Beware of pickpockets on this line!

Urban Railway S2 and S3

Chopin Airport is served by two FAST URBAN RAILWAY SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska) lines, S2 and S3, from the Airport to the Central Railway Station. Travel time is about 25 min.

SKM S2 trains provide service along the following route:

WARSZAWA LOTNISKO CHOPINA (Warsaw Chopin Airport) – Warszawa Służewiec – Warszawa Żwirki i Wigury – Warszawa Rakowiec – Warszawa Al. Jerozolimskie – Warszawa Zachodnia – Warszawa Ochota – Warszawa Śródmieście (Central Railway Station).

SKM S3 trains operate on a shortened route:

WARSZAWA LOTNISKO CHOPINA (Warsaw Chopin Airport) – Warszawa Służewiec – Warszawa Żwirki i Wigury – Warszawa Rakowiec – Warszawa Al. Jerozolimskie – Warszawa Zachodnia – WARSZAWA CENTRUM (Central Railway Station).

Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI)

Warsaw Modlin Airport is located approximately 40 km (25 miles) north of Warsaw and is used primarily by low-cost carriers – particularly Ryanair.

The airport cooperates with two taxi companies: Sawa Taxi and Taxi Modlin. The time of travel to/from Warsaw is usually about 35-40 minutes (remember to take the current traffic into account when planning your journey). Both companies use the same price list: approximately PLN 99 (23 € or 26 US dollars).

Shuttle Bus

ModlinBus runs from Warsaw Modlin Airport direct to Warsaw City Center. Hours of operation: daily from 04:27 – 22:58. Travel time: approximately 60-70 minutes.

ModlinBus is the only carrier that offers direct bus connections from Warsaw Modlin Airport to Warsaw City Centre (Plac Defilad, opposite the entrance to the Palace of Culture and Science). Frequency of buses is synchronized to flight arrivals and departures — usually 50 times per day in both directions. Tickets cost PLN 35 (8 € or 10 US dollars) and may be bought online, at the airport or on the bus using cash, credit card or in foreign currency. This safe connection is operated by modern, comfortable and air-conditioned vehicles with professional staff and free access to wireless internet.

KOLEJE MAZOWIECKIE (Masovian Railway). Travel time: approximately 59 minutes.
Fare: appr. 20 PLN (€4.50 EURO or US$5.30 USD)

KOLEJE MAZOWIECKIE, TLK and EIC trains stop at the Modlin railway station. Regular airport shuttle buses operated by KOLEJE MAZOWIECKIE run from the Modlin railway station to the Modlin Airport passenger terminal every 20-30 minutes. Buses carry up to 70 passengers, are air-conditioned and suitable for disabled persons. The bus timetable is coincides with train departures/arrivals.

KOLEJE MAZOWIECKIE offers a special attractively priced single fare for passengers traveling to and from Warsaw Modlin Airport from Warsaw City Center. Tickets may be purchased in either direction.


Warsaw Central Railway Station

The WARSZAWA CENTRALNA railway station is a main hub for all means of public transport in Warsaw, including close access to the underground metro LINE 1. Many bus routes start and end here.

For visitors to the Olympic Fair who may be traveling with slightly heavier luggage, the most convenient means of transport is by taxi. Please use ONLY authorized taxi services. There are many stories about independent Warsaw taxi drivers from the Central Station charging high rates just to cross to the other side of the street. Never talk to even elegant-looking gentlemen offering cheap journeys!

Exit the on Aleje Jerololimskie Street to find taxi stations, such as ELLE Taxi, an official carrier associated with the Polish State Railways.
